What I am doing here...

Many of you have asked me what exactly I am doing in Uganda...
Well, here it is in a basic form, and also my motivations.

I am helping my friend William Tayeebwa to work on the field all over Uganda on a few topics, for 2 months, in order to publish 3 to 5 articles with some other colleagues.

William is a Prof here at Makerere Univ, in Kampala, but he's on study leave, doing a Ph.D. at Concordia University in Montréal. He is a Trudeau Scholar (very prestigious) and his topic is
the role of media on peace building / conflict resolution.

But for now, it's just side projects : HIV-AIDS, eGovernance, and a case study of a feminist/feminine radio station, MAMA-FM.

My accomodation, basic food and transport are paid for. So I only have to cover the flight, insurances, vaccines and whatever extra goodies I feel like. Can't complain ! It's a great experience, and now both Vic and I will be able to say on our CV that we have been to Africa for work/study. I am learning basic Luganda, the most spoken language here, and I am refining my Swahili as well (oh and also getting my ear used to the local english accent!).

So, that's it...
If any of you want to know more specifics on some of these projects, feel free to email me or just post a comment here below.
